The Fabric's Story

One prototype canopy at a time.

Every OmegaTent canopy starts as a prototype. New art, new colorways, new production runs. Some of that material becomes a shipping canopy. A lot of it doesn't. Off-cuts, sample fabric, small runs of a print that never went to production. Most brands throw those away. We keep them.

Danielle Williams (Founder and CEO, and a neurodivergent engineer who taught herself to sew) and a small hand-sewing team in Colorado turn those materials into fanny packs, dog harnesses, travel bags, laundry bags, and outdoor accessories. Every piece uses the same 150D-grade recycled polyester ripstop we use in our commercial tent canopies. It handles weather. It handles wear. It carries a piece of a specific tent's story.

Because the prototype fabric only exists once, every piece is genuinely one-of-a-kind. No manufactured scarcity, no artificial drops. When a piece sells, it's gone. When a new piece is finished, it goes up on this page. Real scarcity. Real story. Wearable art from the same hands that patented the tent.

Why This Matters

Beauty and sustainability were never at odds.

Fast fashion has a version of itself for the outdoors, too. Cheap gear that falls apart in a season and ends up in a landfill within two years. That's most of the outdoor industry.

Every prototype tent that comes off our line produces off-cuts. Most brands discard them because it's cheaper than doing anything else with them. We don't. Those off-cuts become gear that outlasts the tent they came from. A canopy fabric strong enough to handle 75mph winds on the airframe holds up on a hip belt or a dog collar for years.

Buying one of these pieces is buying a piece of a specific tent's story. When both the canopy and its gear are sold, both are gone. Real scarcity, real material, real story.

What is upcycled camping gear?

Is every piece really one-of-a-kind?

Yes. The prototype fabric only exists once. When a piece sells, an identical replacement is not made. Same print may appear across categories, but never twice in the same category.

Is the fabric durable?

Can I request a specific canopy print?

You can browse the collection for what's currently available. Once a print sells out in a category, it usually doesn't return in that category.

What about custom pieces?

Occasionally we accept custom orders for special canopy art. Ask via care@goodintentsco.com.

Are these washable?

Spot-clean recommended. Follow the tag on each piece. The canopy fabric is fine with water; the sewn structure and hardware benefit from gentle care.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes for most items. Shipping cost is calculated at checkout.
